Supervision and Performance Appraisal Policy

Supervision

Supervision ensures accountability, support, learning, professional development, and service development. It improves employees’ work quality, supports achievement of objectives and outcomes, enables development and progression, and fosters motivation and job satisfaction. Staff supervision is an ongoing process throughout the year, complementing the appraisal process. Formal, in-person supervisions are carried out atleast 1 a year by a manager. Employees will be invited to our main office to go through our yearly supervision.

Appraisal

Seven Steps Support Limited is committed to helping staff reach their potential, thus assisting the organization in achieving its objectives. Appraisal discussions will be held annually, with opportunities for additional 6-month verbal reviews and informal reviews as necessary. The appraisal process can be completed online, arranged in person, or over the phone.

Core Principles of the Appraisal Policy

  • Improve organizational effectiveness through a well-motivated and competent workforce.
  • Provide a fair and equitable process aligned with the Equality Policy.
  • Ensure two-way communication addressing individual and organizational needs.
  • Review past achievements and set a Personal Development Plan for each staff member.
  • Identify individual development needs and support Training and Development Policy objectives.
  • Provide management with valuable data for future planning.

The Appraisal Discussion

The appraisal discussion allows both parties to reflect on the previous year’s achievements and encourages employees in their roles. It focuses on helping employees acquire the relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies to perform their current roles effectively.

Personal Development Plan

The appraisee and line manager should agree on a Personal Development Plan for the following year. It should reflect the appraisee’s aspirations and the organization’s requirements. Any training needs, future training requirements, qualifications, development opportunities, and career planning should be discussed in light of the Personal Development Plan.

Training and Monitoring

Senior Management is responsible for the appraisal process, ensuring that both appraisers and appraisees are adequately equipped and trained to undertake performance appraisals.
