Holiday Entitlement & Pay
This document will help you understand what holiday you are entitled to, how it is calculated, and how the pay is worked out. The information here is according to government guidelines and your employment contract. We always endeavor to keep you informed about Seven Steps and your entitlements as a member of our staff team. To avoid disappointment, please book your holidays for this year. Unused holidays are not carried over to the next year.
Your Holiday Entitlement
The holiday year starts on April 1st and ends on the 31st of March. You are entitled to the pro-rata equivalent of 5.6 weeks. Since our staff do not have regular hours, your exact holiday entitlement is calculated in hours. Upon request, your holiday entitlement can be given to you as such.
The holiday entitlement of 5.6 weeks is equivalent to 12.07 per cent of hours worked. The 12.07 per cent figure is 5.6 weeks’ holiday, divided by 46.4 weeks (52 weeks - 5.6 weeks) and multiplied by 100 = 12.07 per cent.
This means that for every hour worked, you are entitled to 12.07% of that as holiday:
- For each 1 hour worked, you accrue 7 minutes of holiday
- For every 40 hours worked, you accrue 4 hours and 49 minutes of holiday
Your Holiday Pay
As the staff at Seven Steps Support Ltd do not have regular contractual hours, your holiday pay is worked out as the average pay you received each week over the 12 weeks before your holiday. This provides staff on their holiday with a fair and usual salary during their time off. This average will not be below the national minimum wage.
